Fabric Suggestions
For the best result, choose medium to heavyweight fabrics with enough body to maintain the clean lines and asymmetrical shape of the jacket.
Recommended fabrics:
- Wool and wool blends
- Bouclé
- Tweed
- Medium to heavyweight twill
- Denim
- Gabardine
- Coating fabrics
- Structured jacquard
- Fleece for a softer, more casual version
- Stable medium-weight knits for a comfortable, relaxed version
For a more structured jacket, choose wool, tweed, denim, twill or gabardine to emphasize the clean lines and asymmetrical silhouette.
For a softer and cozier version, choose fleece or a stable medium-weight knit. These fabrics will create a more relaxed silhouette while maintaining the distinctive shape of the jacket.
For the lining: choose viscose lining, acetate, cupro or lightweight satin for a smooth and comfortable finish.

I made this as the first piece of outer wear I have made. Super straight forward garment. The most complicated part is joining the lining to the sleeves, but the provided instructions are easy to follow and it all worked as required. I love the finished garment. I even made a matching button. Only thing would be consider making the sleeves a bit longer if you have long limbs. When I make this again I will need to add additional length.
Tolles Schnittmuster, super Service! Danke!
I chose this pattern as I wanted a loose jacket that would work comfortably over a warm sweater as an extra layer, and I wanted an uncomplicated pattern.
I cut the jacket outer from a pair of thrifted dark red velveteen drapes that had some fading in places. I did need to piece the sleeves but that just adds a bit of extra interest. I used a thrifted, red, finely-striped cotton sheet to cut the lining from. I finished it off with 3 black 21mm sew-on snaps.
I love the style, the directions were superb and I am planning to use this pattern again for a jacket out of houndstooth fabric.
I should also mention that Adelaide provides the best customer service!
