MAIN FABRIC
1 INVISIBLE ZIPPER 21CM/8’3”
GROSGRAIN BAND FOR WAIST (MINIMUM 4CMS / 1’6″)
___________
This skirt can be sewn using two different fabrics for the upper and lower sections, or the same fabric for the entire skirt, depending on the desired look.
Option 1: Using different fabrics
Using two fabrics creates contrast between the structured upper panel and the fluid, gathered lower section.
Upper section (yoke) Choose a fabric with a little more body to provide structure and support:
Linen or linen blends
Cotton poplin
Cotton sateen
Lightweight denim or chambray
Light twill (cotton or Tencel™)
Structured viscose
Lower section (gathered skirt) Choose a lightweight, fluid fabric with a beautiful drape:
Viscose / rayon
Tencel™ / lyocell
Cupro
Silk crepe
Washed silk
Lightweight satin (silk or viscose)
Cotton voile or lawn
This combination highlights the contrast between structure and fluidity and enhances the movement of the skirt.
Option 2: Using the same fabric for the entire skirt
The same fabric can also be used for both the upper and lower sections, creating a more uniform and minimalist look.
Recommended fabrics for the entire skirt:
Viscose / rayon
Tencel™ / lyocell
Cupro
Washed silk
Silk crepe
Lightweight satin (silk or viscose)
Fine linen or linen-viscose blends
When using a single fabric, choose one that offers both enough stability for the upper section and sufficient fluidity for the gathered lower section.
Fabric tips
Keep fabrics within a light to medium-light weight range
Avoid fabrics that are too stiff or too heavy, as they will not gather well
Stretch fabrics and knits are not recommended, as the pattern is designed for woven fabrics only
As always, sewing your own garment gives you the freedom to experiment — different fabric choices can lead to beautiful and unique results.

Such a versatile skirt pattern, depending on the fabric you choose. I made it in a light patterned taffeta for an evening event and I love it! The pattern came together easily and instructions were easy to follow. I will definitely make it again in a more casual fabric
