MAIN FABRIC – Stretchy fabric (minimum 20% stretch)

The Etna Top is designed for stretch fabrics with good drape. The asymmetric cut and soft gathers rely on fluidity to fall correctly and create the intended silhouette.
Recommended fabrics
Wool jersey (as used for the sample) – soft, breathable, elegant drape, perfect for cooler seasons
Viscose (rayon) jersey – very fluid, ideal for pronounced gathers
Tencel™ / modal jersey – smooth, drapey, and comfortable against the skin
Cotton jersey with elastane – for a slightly more structured result
Bamboo jersey – soft, fluid, and lightweight
Fabric properties
Stretch: medium stretch required (at least 20% crosswise stretch)
Drape: soft to fluid
Weight: light to medium weight (approx. 180–260 g/m²)
Fabrics not recommended
Very stiff or heavy knits
Thick sweatshirting or French terry
Fabrics with poor recovery
Non-stretch woven fabrics
Note
A fluid fabric will enhance the asymmetric design and gathers. Using a more structured jersey will result in a more architectural look with less drape.
Sewing your own garment means you are the creator of your piece — feel free to experiment with fabrics not mentioned here, and the result can be beautiful. Don’t hesitate to explore and try different options.
